After 20 plus years of training clients I am actually writing my first blog. It just goes to show you how much technology has changed the way in which we communicate with one another.
My experience over the past two decades has served me well in providing me with the opportunity to coach my clients based not only upon theoretical experience, but on practical experience and first hand knowledge as well.
My first blog is going to outline what I call the #1 Insight (SEO link to insights) to consider when beginning an exercise regime. An exercise programs optimal goal should be health and wellness based, while connecting the mind and body as a lifestyle. Body image should be looked upon as a bi-product of a balanced exercise program.
Here are my 5 Insights
1. Set realistic goals
What do you want to accomplish or achieve with your exercise program (SEO Link to programs)? Start with small goals and baby steps. Make a list of attainable goals that you would like to see in your body. List changes you would like to see in your lifestyle that will help support your goals.
Some good examples are feeling better about yourself, increased energy and strength, stress reduction, more positive outlook on your life, disease prevention, an increase in your metabolic rate and a more peaceful mindset. Realistic, achievable goals will keep you motivated, focused and interested as you can actually see your goals being realized.
Unrealistic goals are a set up for failure as you will always be chasing that elusive carrot. Focusing solely on weight loss as a primary goal is another set up for failure because you will never see the results as fast as you feel you should. Workout to feel better about yourself and for all the right reasons and you can make a healthy life.......... a lifestyle. And that my friends is the optimal goal!
Be Well
